Beforehand, any time a prisoner was executed by lethal injection in Indiana, they had been strapped into a gurney, and an IV line was inserted to inject a lethal mixture of 3 substances: a barbiturate to render the person unconscious; pancuronium bromide to paralyze voluntary and reflex muscles; and
